Job description:
We are OUR ACADEMY, a workshop, mentorship, and resource group of individuals and companies in the cannabis industry that are open to knowledge sharing and supporting social equity qualified applicants and justice impacted individuals.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Online Education Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our online education programming by providing technical assistance to students during Zoom classes and via our program Slack channels, assisting with the setup and publishing of online courses on our online learning management system (LMS), creating course-related emails, and collaborating with our team of instructors and course developers.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and manage online courses and community spaces on our LMS (Thinkific), which may involve copywriting, light video editing, simple graphic design, workbook creation, and other related tasks.
- Assist students during Zoom classes and via our program Slack channel by answering questions and helping with technical issues.
- Spark engagement within our program Slack channel by posting class notes and nurturing discussions about program content.
- Write and send course-related emails as needed, providing students with updates, reminders, and other relevant information.
- Collaborate with our team of instructors and course developers to ensure that courses are up-to-date, engaging, and effective.
- Participate in occasional team meetings and trainings.
Requirements:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Outgoing and personable online via chat and on video if need be.
- Experience with online course development, including familiarity with learning management systems and basic design principles.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Zoom and Slack.
- Experience with Thinkific, Canva, Monday, Typeform, ActiveCampaign, and Hubspot.
- Familiarity with copywriting, video editing, graphic design, and workbook creation tools, or the ability to learn quickly.
- Experience writing course-related emails or other relevant communication materials.
- A reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace conducive to online meetings.
This is a contract position with flexible hours. The workload may vary depending on the needs of our program, but we anticipate an average of 10-20 hours per week. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
